Quilts of Valor has a page full of free quilt and quilt block patterns for ideas and inspiration. If you are new to sewing, this is a great place to learn. If you prefer to cut pieces or iron for others, that is available as well. If you like sewing on binding, you can do that. Bring a sewing machine and all the tools if you want to piece. You can either bring a QOV project to work on or help with a group project that will be provided for you. We hold sew days monthly on the last Monday of the month. To set up your own QOVF group, the cost is $30 per year for group registration plus $5 per year per person, with a minimum of 2 persons. Or you can join the Foundation individually for a $20 fee, through the QOVF website. To become a member of our QOVF-registered group, the cost is $6 per year ($5 annually per person, plus $1 toward the group registration fee). Instructions for making a Quilt of Valor, click here. Quilts of Valor cannot be purchased and cannot be sold we do not expect any donation of any kind when we award a Quilt of Valor. Quilts of Valor does not provide quilts to organizations for permanent public display or to serve as bed covers for hospital beds. As of mid-August 2019, over 226,000 QOVs have been awarded and registered in the US and in our military hospitals in Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Qatar.Ī Quilt of Valor is considered to be the civilian equivalent of a military award it is a lifetime award (only one per person) and is never "handed over" or "handed out", but always individually awarded. Originally, QOVs were given only to injured active military returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, but the guidelines were broadened to include all active military and other service veterans, regardless of the conflict (declared or otherwise). Its mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
